I'm scared of this week's NME. I love Beth. I think she's an inspiration, although I am fully aware my fat ass could stand to shift a few pounds. I don't want to be rail thin, but I would like to be healthier. That aside, Beth Ditto butt naked on the cover of the NME is more traumatising than I can cope with midweek. I don't read the rag, but I did read the highlight that was Beth blaming gay male fashion designers/workers for the trend that is size 0. Sometimes, you've just got to walk away.

It didn't make me want to vomit in quite the same way as Angelina Jolie feeling "too guilty to eat" did. Or the knowledge that Angelina has decorated her children's rooms in the style of the countries that she adopted them from. That won't be at all mortifying when they're 14 and bringing friends home from school. I used to think the woman was kooky. Now I firmly believe she's just flat out cuckoo.

In other news, I am hungry. That is all.

...because it's nearly 1am and I should be in bed because I've promised to take my friend to Cardiff tomorrow and that's another £5.10 in bridge fees, much less parking and whatever, but I'm feeling the need to justify having FOB lyrics in my shout out box. It's sort of ironic, yeah? Except I'm pretty sure I'm the only idiot that gets the irony. I've been bitching about the rise and rise of Pete fucking Wentz for years, and now I go and stick them on my page. See, I stand by my opinion that the INTERESTING member of FOB is Patrick, except Patrick doesn't get to say anything because we get to read about Pete's depression and Pete's medication and how Pete's late because he's suffering yet another bout of crippling insecurity and he's calling EVERY contact in his (by now infamous) 'kick to get some reassurance that he's not alone and people DO still love him and care for him and think he's so avante garde and in touch, what with typing lyk da kidz and all that, and WOW that's a run on sentence and I've lost my train of thought. REGARDLESS of how I feel about Pete Wentz, the part of the bridge I decided to quote in my "shout out"? I do kinda like. Stupid song, used purely for the irony of me quoting FOB, but it's kinda uplifting, no? "Sing, until your lungs give out!"

Except as a war cry, it's right up there with "You can take our lives, but your will NEVER. TAKE. OUR. FREEDOM!"

Or anything Keira Knightley says in Pirate 3. God, she's annoying. Another mini rant for another day. Except, oooh, I have to comment on this. Some girl in the row behind us the other day when we saw Pirates 3 (which I, personally, REALLY enjoyed; WAY better than Pirates 2, although a slap in the face with a dead turbut would have been better than Pirates 2, except for the cannibals, who were ace and Johnny, whom we univerally love and adore, where was I?), some girl was overhead saying to her friend, "Keira Knighley's a REALLY good actress." Eh?! Right. And I'd make a REALLY good model. WTF?! Maybe if Keira Knightley had ever been ASKED to act, we could tell, but mostly she's been shagging models, losing weight and wearing belts around her non-existent boobs. When, precisely, has Keira bloody Knightley EVER acted?!

Although I grant you, I didn't watch Pride and Prejudice because Matthew Macfadyen just isn't my Darcy and never will be. Darcy was ruggedly handsome. And when the handsome ran out, he was rich, although Elizabeth obviously had too many moral standards to fall for rich without the handsome. And the BBC's random addition of a full clothed splash in a fishpond, not that I'm complaining. We love Colin Firth. So we didn't see Ms Knightley's turn as Elizabeth. And Domino just looked shit. I still fail to see when she's stretched her acting muscles.

Anyways. Enough of me rambling. It is now just gone 1 and BN has uploaded my pichurs from Ponty, and tomorrow I'll make it upload videos. I've downloaded the Ponty thing from whichever channel it was on and I shall watch that whenever. For now, though, I shall watch Smallville and swoon over Jason AND Clark having to take their shirts off. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.

Spoiler warning if you bother to read all of this, for 2x22 of Supernatural. Actually, for pretty much ALL of season 2, but hey.

Do people LOOK for race issues in shows? I can't honestly say, taking into consideration the show's demographic and where they guys are on a week by week basis, that I've considered their portrayal of cultural minorities to be stereotypically "bad". There have been as many, if not more, white men/women that have gone bad or been bad than there have men, but regardless the race card gets played. I was just flicking around and I came across this post on the LJ supernatural_tv community, and I can't help but feel that even in this day and age, people are LOOKING for reasons to be offended by something. I'm not going to pretend the show is flawless, because I'm not that kind of fangirl, and I do see the point being made about the high chick-flick content of season 2, but as a character driven show, two boys dealing with the death of their father and the emotional baggage that comes along with, I figure it's something we can overlook. But playing the race card AGAIN? When does that bill come due?

Of course, it could be because I'm a white girl in a white world.

My interwebs are working again as well, folks. Thank you to everyone who's done something for me in the last week, though. No idea what was wrong with it. The modem kicked its own arse into touch at some point today because I sat down an hour ago and lo! solid green light. I fucking hate technology. Fact.
